Making a Chalkboard

I really wanted to have a chalkboard in our kitchen to leave notes and the menu for dinner and what not but I didn't want to shell out the cash to buy one from an antique store or etsy because I thought I could make a cool one on my own. Well, with a little inspiration from my best friend Kourtney and a can of KRYLON chalkboard spray paint I did just that... Aaron helped me open the paint can though so I guess he did something :)
chalkboard paint- $3.87 at Wal-Mart

Old picture frame- $4.00 and painters tape- $3.00

Cover the frame before you start painting

Before...

AFTER! paint like the can says, first horizontal and then vertical to cover all the glass and apply 2 or 3 coats.

Aaron helping me by shaking up the paint I did the frame in

put painters tape around the inside of the frame to protect the chalkboard from getting a new coat. Make sure the chalkboard paint is dry before you do this :)

awesome green paint that was in the bathroom of our apartment. I am putting it to good use :)

1 inch brush- $1.00 at Wal-Mart

ready to paint!

off with the old and on with the new :)

All done- now to dry
